1st Sporthorse Stallion Expo Success!

Don Principe is the #3 USEF 2007 Sire !!
I have to apologise for my mistake. USEF listed Don Principe as fist until, I guess today-as I recieved a call to check the standings. I was quite embarassed to find ourselves listed third. I had been told there could be no changes after December 15 according to the rule book, but guess I was misinformed.


Don Principe, with a total of 167 points, is ranked the number one!!producer of Dressage Breeding (in hand)Sporthorses. His offspring, from weanlings to two yr olds, won many blue ribbons and Championships in 2007. Come and breed your future Champions with "The Prince"!

Region 1 GAIC Championships
Congratulations to Don Principe and his rider, Jim Koford!

Placing third at PSG, third at the Intermediare I Frestyle and CHAMPION at the Intermediare I!! at the Region 1 GAIC Championships inLexington, VA in October, 2007.

Not only did this amazing pair palce so well at the Championships, they also won the Barbara Silverman Memorial award. This is a series award that takes the averageof the Championship freestyle score and two others.
Even more, this pair took home the Mary Beth McClain Memorial Perpetual Trophy which combines the scores fromt the PSG and Intermediare I at the Championships.

Dressage at Devon 2007
Marydell Farm had a wonderful DAD showing in both the breed and performance divisions.

La Dolce Vita (Londonderry/Wonderland), age 4, placed 2 nd in both the Maiden and the Hanoverian IBC.

Don Regale MF earned an eigth in the yearling Colts and a sixth in the Hanoverian IBC.

Reba's Song placed fifth in the GAIG Mare Championships, won the Jr/Yr Handler class.

Marydell Farm placed fourth in the breeder's group thanks to Reba and Regis.

Jim Koford with Don Principe made this stallion's Devon CDI debut a memorable one. Placing seventh out of 46 rides in the PSG. 18th out of 44 in the I1, and 5th! in the I1 freestyle. Over 300 horse had applied to enter Devon so these were the highest scoring horses that actually competed. Don Principe was one of the youngest there.

Congratulations to everyone who made this a great show!! Wendell( my VERY supportive spouse), Jim, Brendan, Aaron, Sally, Maria, Arielle and Brenda.

First EVER 100%--Congratulations Arielle and Reba!
At Dressage at devon on Sept 26,2007, history was made by Arielle Perry, age 15 and her mare, Reba's Song, age 4. Under judge Hilda Gurney during the Jr/Yr Handler class, they were awarded the perfect score of 100%. As far as anyone from DAD or the USDF can remember, this is the very first time this has occured.
Arielle also went on to show Reba in the Mare GAIG Championships to a fifth place.

In addition, Arielle was the recipient of the "John Pery Mamorial" Perpetual Trophy. This award is given to an individual from either the breed or performance division that exemplifies good sportsmanship and/or remarkable achievement. Arielle recieved this honor from the DAD committe who voted for her to recieve this honor for both reasons.

Don Principe third overall at USEF Developing Horse Finals!
Don Principe and Jim Koford showed their focus, determination and quality at the 2007 USEF Developing Horse National Finals in Kentucky on Saturday, Sept 15. Finishing a close second behind Michelle Gibson, the pair had a harmonious ride with few mistakes. On Sunday, a few risks had DonPrincipe in fourth place for the day.
Finishing a strong third, Don Principe and Jim were acknowledged as being graduates of the Markel FEI Young Horse program.

Don Quixote MF in GA
With Heather Youngblood his owner riding, Don Quixote MF competed and did well in the Materiale classes at the GDCTA show. Don Quixote MF was also shown in hand on Saturday witha score of 75.7 and Sunday with a 81.0%.

Reba's Song Grand Champion!
Huge Congratulatiosn to Arielle Perry and Reba's Song. Competing at the GDCTA 2007 Southern Hospitality Breeder Show in GA Sept 15 and 16, they took home the reserve Mare and Reserve Mature Horse championships on Sat-Show I and Mare, Mature and Grand Championships on Sun-Show II. Scores were 80.1% and an amazing 86.0%!!

Don Principe scores a win at Labor of Love in Raleigh NC
Don Principe came into the show ring ready to perform. In his freestyle at I1 in front of judge Barbara Ebner, Don Principe and Jim Koford scored 72.5% to win the class. This was a warm up in preparation for the National Developing Horse Finals in Lexington, KY September 15 and 16, 2007. Don Principe is heading to Kentucky standing in 2nd place overall. Best of Luck to Jim and Prince!

Lord Tryon MF wins the Bari Von Buedingen Memorial Award!
Lord Tryon MF (Landkoenig/SPS Comtessa) under judge Arlene Rigdon at the 2007 NCDCTA Breeding Show over Labor day weekend won the honor of having his name placed on the Bari Von Buedingen Memorial award. This award is given to the highest scoring colt or gelding 3 and under in the open show.In honor of a wonderful lady who bred Hanoverians and supported the breeders for many years before her passing.

Another Big Win for Don Regale MF!
On Thursday July 12, 2007, "Regis" won his class in Ohio for his owner Brenda Ridenour. Congratulations!!

What a show for Marydell Farm!!!
First- HUGE Congratulations to Heather Youngblood and Don Quixote MF. With Heather up, "Aiden" as he is fondly called, won both the 3 yr old clot Materiale and the Under Saddle classes. Then with Brenden Curtis handling, DOn Quixote MF won his 3 yr old colts/gelding class and was Colt Champion. Highest Placing Hanoverian in the show.
Arielle Perry succesfully showed her 4 yr old, Reba's Song both under saddle and in hand.
Dulcinea MF-Don Principe/EM Rising Star was second in her class and was the highest scoring NC bred horse in the open show.
EM Rising Star won the Broodmare class and was Resserve Mare Champion.

In the performance division, Don Principe shown like the star he is. Winning the Developipng Horse PSG with 68.375%, Placing 4th in the I1 with an amazing 9 on his canter zig zag and 4th in the FEI (I1 and GP) freestyle.

During the weekend of May 11 to 13, 2007, Don Principe participated in his first show of the season. It was also his first CDI and first time performing the Intermediare I and a Freestyle.
The competition was of the highest caliber with over 20 Canadians, several Columbians,a representative from Mexico and the Dominican Republic as well as some of the top American horses trying for a berth on the Pan Am team.
Don Principe and Jim Koford placed in the middle of the classes that had 40 + entries.
Jim also won the best turned out male rider for the FEI jog- Congratualtions!!
We are very proud of our "boys"!

Congratulations to Dr. Iris Furlong and "Randolf Scott"!
Dr. Furlong and "Randy" (Relevant/SPS Doreen) have been together since October 2006. This spring, Randy has done a few schooling and recognised shows. Dr. Furlong with Randy have brought home the high score of at least three shows. This past weekend, May 20, 2007, they did that again with an amazing 8.2 in the Markel FEI Young Horse 4 yr old division !

CONGRATULATIONS! USDF Horse of the Year,in the weanling colts of 06, Don Regale MF (Don Principe/Royal Gem)is CHAMPION with an amazing 82.3%! Duke Principe MF(Don Principe/SPS Comtessa) and Dynamic MF (Don Principe/Ultrarubin) are standing tied for thirteenth place with 76.1%. Congratulatiosn to their owners, Lisa Otto and Leslie Lytton!
Their half brother, Don Royale MF (Don Principe/Royal Gem) ended 2005 as the Reserve Champion Weanling USDF HOY
Also, Congratulations are in order for Arielle Perry, who at age 14, showed Reba's Song(Rotspon/Windsong) herself to two Reserve Filly Championships and did superbly at Dressage at Devon, to her 9th place overall 3 yr old Fillies. In addition, Diamond MIne MF (DeLaurentis/Royal Gem)finsished 17th overall and best wishes to Stephanie O'Brien with her future with this wonderful colt.
Additionaly, Marydell Farm bred Fuerst Dancer (Fuerst Heinrich/EMRotina)was 12th in the yearling filly division.

Breed Show results from KY-DON REGALE MF Reserve Grand Champ
On September 9, 2006, the horses from Marydell participated once again in the MSEDA Breed Show at the lovely Kentucky Horse Park. The weather was wonderful and the footing very good to work in.
Don Regale MF (Don Principe/Royal Gem) once again proved he is something special indeed. Winning his colt of 06 class with an amazing 82.3% from judge Hilda Gurney, "Regis" went on to win the Colt Championship, Young Horse Championship and ended the day as the MSEDA Reserve Grand Champion!
Regis' score made him the High Scoring Horse of the show and in the process, High Scoring Hanoverian and Highest Placing Hanoverian. This feat will place his name on the Adios II Perpetual Trophy-right under his father's from his win last year!
In addition, our filly Fuerst Dancer(Fuerst Heinrich/EM Rotina) was second in her class and received a score of 80.6%.

NCDCTA Breed Show results
Congratulations to Arielle Perry and Reba's Song(shown in photo) for winning the 3 yr old filly class and placing 3rd in the Hanoverian IBC.
Reba and Arielle then went on to be Reserve Filly Champion. Their next stop will be DAD 2006.
Diamond Mine MF continues his winning ways for his owner Stephanie O'Brien with a class win and 2nd reserve Colt Champion.
Dyanamic MF was a real trooper for his owner, Leslie Lytton, showing the other 06 colts how to behave on the line! He was third in the open and fifth in the Hanoverian IBC.

Another Win for a Don Principe Foal
De Bussey MF went to the Ole South Dressage Classic in Tennessee and came home with the Blue Ribbon! This makes five foals this year that have won the blue at a USDF Breed Show.

Diamond Mine MF GRAND CHAMPION!
Congratulatiosn to Stephanie O'Brien who purchased Daimond Mine MF earlier this summer.

We took Diamond to the Ole South Dressage Classic Breed Show in Murfreesboro, TN on August 15, 2006 where he won his class, the Colt Championship, Young Horse Championship and was GRAND CHAMPION!

Congratulations to Kathy St. Mann and Dr. Suess- Premium 8.1
Dr. Suess, owned and bred by Kathy St. Mann of California and recently of Oklahoma, was awarded Premium at his ISR/Oldenburg NA inspection in northern California.
Dr. Suess is by Don Principe and out of Kathy's Frohwind/Rum Bun mare.
We were notified recently that Dr. Suess was the site Champion!

FANTASTC Southeast Sporthorse Association Breed Show Results
This weekend, July 22, 2006, Don Regale MF , owner Brenda Ridenour, won the colts of 06 class at the Southeast Sporthorse Asso breed show and went on to become Colt Champion with an amazing 84.2%!! He also won the highly competitive Hanoverian IBC with 81+%.
Second was Dynamic with a 81.5% and third was Duke Principe, owner Lisa Otto, with 79.7%
Also at this show, Destria, Don Principe/EM Whitney, Owner, Annetta Kirk, won the fillies of 06 with a 78.4%

Fuerst Dancer (Fuerst Heinrich/EM Rotina)won her Fillies of 05 class with an 80.9%
EM Rotina won the Broodmare class with an 83.8% and went on to be the Mare Champion and Reserve Mature Horse Champion.

Our stallion, Don Principe, sire of the above three colts, made his PSG debut on Friday scoring a very good 61%. On Saturday, Don Principe had a wonderful fourth/two with a 72+% and today had an even better PSG with a solid 63%.

DUKE PRINCIPE wins the blues in Kentucky
Duke Principe(Don Principe/SPS Comtessa) went to Lexington, KY on May 24 and May 25.
This venue hosted two different breed shows back to back with judges Gail Hoff Carmona and Susan Maden Mandas.
Duke won his class, Colts of 06 in both shows!!Duke was also second in the large competitve Hanoverian IBC.
Congratulations to Duke and his owner, Lisa Otto of New York!

Don Royale MF is tops in 2005!
Don Royale MF was ranked #2 USDF Horse of the Year, Weanling Colts in 2005. Don Royale was also the Champion 2005 Horse of the Year for the North Carolina Warmblood Breeders.
His sire, Don Principe was also ranked #2 USDF Horse of the Year,Stallion in Hand as well as #4 USDF HOY FEI Young Horse 6 yr old division.
The dam of Don Royale MF, ROyal Gem was also highly placed at #8 2005 USDF HOY, Broodmare.

We are very thrilled with this family and this colt!

Don Principe wins the Adios II Perpetual Trophy!

Don Principe at the FEI Young Horse National Championships
Don Principe was a star this past weekend, September 9 - 11, 2005, at the Horse Park in Kentucky for the Markal 6 yr old FEI Young Horse Championships.
He finished the preliminary test with a wonderful score of 8.04 and was standing third at the end of the day.
Don Principe entered the arena and as he was troting towards C and the judge's box, he whinnied at them. As one of the judges said in the public comments "it was like he announced "wake up,sit up and watch. I am here to impress" and that is what he proceeded to do".
Rider/trainer Jim Koford later said it was like he was in "THE ZONE" and he was being a ham about it.
Don Principe went on to be the Stallion, Mature and Grand Champion of the breed show on Saturday with a score of 83.75% from judge Ann Gribbons. This was on the stallion's "day off".
On Sunday, Don Principe was feeling rather proud of himself and had an abundance of energy which resulted in a very good ride but with some flow issues. He finished the Championships in Fourth place overall.
What a great weekend!!!
Don Principe won two in hand Championships in the same week in two different regions, what a horse!
He is now qualified for the Cosequin Championship Final in three different regions. Watch for Don Principe at Dressage at Devon.

Don Principe Grand Champion Raleigh
Don Principe won his stallion class September 5, 2005 at the NCDCTA Raleigh Breed Show and went on to become the Stallion Champion. In addition, he took home Mature Horse Champion and Grand Champion honors. He will now have his name placed on the Rosinburg Perpetual Trophy.

"THE Prince" as handler Elly Schobel now calls him, also took the Highest Placing Hanoverian in show as well as winning the HAnoverian IBC.

Special thanks to Elly for doing such a great job handling Don Principe.

Don Principe now gets on a trailer Wednesday to head to Lexington, KY, and the Markal FEI Young Horse National Championship. Best wishes to his team, Jim Koford, Becca Vick and Elly Schobel.

Royal Gem makes a statement at Lexington
Royal Gem, our 6 yr old broodmare by Royal Diamond out of SPS Comtessa(Contender)won her classes at teh Good Horseman's Breeder's Showcase in June and added another win at Dressage at Lexington in July.
She also now has the distinction of producing the colt winner at Lexington of the current year for the past three years in a row.
In 2003, Diamond Jim(Davignport), then in 2004 with Diamond Mine MF( De Laurentis) and now in 2005 with Don Royale MF(Don Principe), her colts have taken the blue!

Breeding Approval for the GOV granted!!!
Don Principe was presented to the Verband der Zuchter des Oldenberger Pferdes e.V. otherwise known as The Oldenburg Horse Breeder's Society Department of North America, on July 30 at Stonecrop Farm in North Carolina. He was presented in hand as Don Principe has already succesfully completed the performance test in Germany.
Don Principe was awarded approval for breeding in the GOV.

Don Principe shines at Dressage at Lexington
Don Principe won the stallion class,81.225% the Stalion Championship as well as Mature Horse champion. To top things off, he also recieved two more qualifing scores for the FEI 6 yr old Young Horse Test. On Sunday, he recieved a 78.6%!!!

Don Royale MF wins his first show!
Don Royale MF, born 4/7/05, by Don Principe out of Royal Gem won his colt of 2005 class at both the Good Horseman Breeder's Showcase I and II shows in early June.
Don Royale MF scored 79+% and a 77.9% under two different judges and was named "Best Foal of Show" in both shows. Don Royale MF also won the "Highest Score USA Born" in the Showcse II.
This was also a wonderful show for his mother as well.
Royal Gem won her class, Mare Champion and Reserve Mature Champion behind Don Royale's father, Don Principe.

Donnerkoenig excells in the Hunter ring
Donnerkoenig has gone to his first hunter shows this month. On June 10, Donnerkoenig was reserve Champion at the Tryon A2 show. He then followed up by winning CHAMPION the following weekend at the Tryon Hounds Show in the 3 foot divisions.

Don Principe wins BIG!
Don Principe was shown for the very first time in the USA at the Good Horseman Breeder's Showcases I and II in early June. This wonderful stallion showed his "class" in many different ways that weekend.
First, his regular rider was unavoidably detained by car troubles. A catch hnadler/rider took over on Saturday and Don Principe went on to score an amazing 84.9% in hand and then 84% under saddle. He won both of his classes and was Stallion Champion,Mature Horse Champion and Grand Champion as well as "Best Stallion" of the weekend winning the Fabio I Memorial Award.
Watch for Don Principe at Dressage at Lexington and the South East USDFBC Cosequin Championships at the October 15 and 16, 2005 Breed Show in Conyers, Georgia at the International Horse Park, home to the 1996 Olympics.
