A huge win for Couleur Rubin
January 15th, 2010 - Oldenburg Stallion Couleur Rubin Wins the CDI4* Championat der Stadt Basel Under Ludger Beerbaum
The Oldenburg stallion Couleur Rubin (Cordalme' x St.Pr./El.St. Grannuschka (Grannus)) is living up to the promise he showed as a young jumper. This past weekend he won the 1.50 meter Preis der Stadt Basel at the CDI4* in Basel, Switzerland under rider Ludgar Beerbaum.
Not only did Couleur Rubin win this very competitive class, he had only narrowly been beaten the day before by his own daughter, Castle Forbes Cosma Shiva, who won the International 1.45 meter class on Thursday under Irish rider, Jessica Kurten!
His talent as a jumper and a sire didn't stop there either. Couleur Rubin's son, Couletto, was sixth in the Championat der Stadt Basel 1.50 meter class under French rider, Simon Delestre!
Couleur Rubin has been a very steady competitor for Beerbaum, and has remained sound and strong through these years. His offpsring are well regarded by jumper riders.
Another son of Couleur Rubin out of a Rio Grande mare just won the 5 year old Young Jumper class at Wellington.

Wynton Win 2009-2010 KWPN Stallion Competition
Madeleine Witte-Vrees and the black stallion Wynton (by Jazz x Matador II)were the clear winners of the KWPN stallion competitions. They scored 158 points, more than 12 points ahead of Emmelie Scholtens and Westenwind (by Flemmingh x Contango).
Wynton has been busy with the KWPN stallion competitions, the stallion show of Ahlers in Vechta, and yesterday (Sat., 2/13/10) Wynton won the semi-finals of the KNHS championship in the ZZ licht. The finals will be in 2 weeks, over three days.
On You Tube are several new videos of Wynton, and 2 other wonderful young stallions bred by Wynton's breeders, Hans & Grietje Jansen. Bretton Woods and Chagall are out of the same mare "Annabel" (DeNiro - Romancier). Grietje reports that "Annabel" was one of the 40 mares chosen to breed with TOTILAS this year! Very interesting!

Livello again - with a thought for HUNTER breeders
Given the glorious style with which LIVELLO jumps, I asked the manager of Livello for trot footage to see if he might be suitable as a hunter sire. He is a wonderful mover, and Holsteiner breeders may very well be interested in him to add strong athletic blood into their dressage program.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fb3enHnjRTc
I believe he can produce fancy hunters of beautiful, elegant and very classy type.
I have put several more short clips of Livello on You Tube: walking in hand, trot under saddle, canter under saddle.
Just search on You Tube for "Yancey Farms"

OK ........ anyone else for Jazz?
Quite a few breeders had noticed that I mentioned that I had brought Jazz semen in a few months ago, even though I haven't put him up on the stallion pages. (Don't know why, just forgot.) I had bought the semen for one of my own mares, and bought extra while I was at it - that's my habit.
Anyway, I have sold what I had, so am bringing more in the next couple of weeks, along with the French Kiss semen. The Jazz semen is very good fertility and is priced at $1325.

Stakkato Gold
In our German shipment we will have doses of Stakkato Gold. What a nice jumper stallion HE is!
This spectacular Hanoverian premium stallion was already the "Best Jumper Stallion" of his year when he was licensed in 2003. At his 30-day test in 2004, he received the ideal score of 10.0 for jumping ability and in conjunction with his outstanding rideability (8.52) he finished with an overall score of 9.33 in jumping.
Now he is winning in Gran Prix and Nations Cup classes.
His full page will be up soon. Special pricing of $650 per dose, proven fertility semen.

My handsome Boy!
Branca is such a wonderful boy. He is so smart and trainable. He actually turned 4 November 2009. In his very first outing from the farm to a dressage show at Canterbury (Gainesville, Fl) he scored a 62.286% at First Level Test 3, and won first place! 2nd show was 1/16 at Florida Horse Park against good competition. At First 3 he again scored 62.571 and won 3rd place out of a large class. We are proud of him standing up against all the fancy warmbloods that were there.

We will once again have BENETTON DREAM on our roster. Brentano II - Rotspon - Davignon - Weltmeyer - Sender - Duktus - Duellant.
The depth of stallion power that we have - from AMPERE to QUATERBACK- offers superior choices to breeders in the U.S.
New this year will be:
ALEXANDRO P
CHRIST
CONNNERY
DRESDEN MANN
FLORISCOUNT
FRENCH KISS
GRAFENSTOLZ
KANNAN
LIVELLO
ROSANDRO
ROYAL CLASSIC
STAKKATO GOLD
If the choices are too much for you, just call and we can chat about your mare, goals and desires. I am sure there is a special stallion in this line up to suit!
The shipment from Germany will be coming out soon. On the "Fees " schedule you will see that the stallions in BOLD type are ones that I keep in inventory and will be here through the season. The other stallions listed are ones that are available from the stallion owners that I work with, but I don't stock them . If you want one of those, just tell me and I will add it to the shipment.
It is a HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

ABKE filly wins it ALL in CANADA!!! Congratulations.....
I am so delighted to tell the story of hunter breeders Danielle Gregoire and husband Ed Stewart of Four Leaf stables in a small town in E. Ontario. Last year Ed called with a description of his mare(Han. by Lemon Park)and their breeding goals (hunter). Ed requested advice on stallions. I said, "It HAS to be Abke!" He believed, and look what they did! This filly not only won the 2009 Canadian Sporthorse Association's National Foal Championships , but the filly went on to WIN IT ALL at the ROYAL!! An excerpt from the Ottawa Citizen newspaper:
"Aritzia, from the Four Leafs horse breeding farm just outside of Richmond, claimed the Grand Champion Canadian Sport Horse award at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, taking
the best-in-show prize in a field that included dozens of older horses and full-grown stallions."
"Coming from a small town in Eastern Ontario, Stewart said they never expected to take the top
honour in North American horse breeding.
“We’d never even been to the Fair before,” Stewart said. “We had high hopes heading in, but we
never even imagined we’d win it all.”
The farm might not be known to most of the outside world, but showman Ron Davidson maintains he
saw potential in Aritzia and Four Leaf Farms more than three months ago.
Davidson, who has been presenting horses at the Royal Winter Fair for almost 40 years, said even
then he could see Aritzia was destined for greatness.
“She’s like a beautiful woman,” he said. “When she enters the room, you have to turn and look.”
Davidson has won numerous Grand Champion titles, but says this latest triumph is one of the most
special.
“I’ve done an awful lot at the Fair,” he said. “I thought I’d won just about everything there was to win,
but this is something else.
“To see a baby win this award, it’s amazing. This is truly an amazing horse.”

Farewell III continues his solid performances....
At the recent CDI-W in Frankfurt on Dec.17-20, 2009
Farewell III competed in the highly contested
2009 Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals - FINALS - (Prix St. Georges)
With rider Marcus Gribbe, he qualified for the Finals and scored a 72.750%, winning third place.
I have always felt a special admiration and connection to Farewell III, and U.S. breeders have been quite pleased with their foals from him. He is a solid producing stallion and an admirable competition horse as well.
Wish I could have been there to pet his neck...

Calido semen due in ......
The well known stallion, CALIDO,is a 1991 Holsteiner that has proven his value not only as a top notch competition horse, but also as a world renowned sire.
His progeny have already earned well over a million Euros, with 693 competing in jumping (!) and 143 at advanced levels.
His FN index is 144 for jumping and 117 for dressage, proving that he is a versatile sire.
He is a lovely, modern type; very correct with outstanding movement. He is rideable for both the amateur and professional competitor. You can look to him to produce jumpers with scope and fancy hunters with movement.
Semen quality is very good; price yet to be finalized. Please let us know of your interest.
Update: The conflicting communication with Stal Hell is just a mess. This is one reason I have never wanted to try and deal with them. We were told one thing, but the past broker says another..... she stands firm that she has a contract to sell this semen. I have no personal dog in this fight, so am unclear what Stal Hell will do. I have far too much else to do to worry about this one horse, who would be a tiny portion of my business. Of course, I will let you know the final decision by Stal Hell.

FLORISCOUNT
It isn't too often that we get a really lovely conformation photo of a German stallion! This is the young Florencio - Donnerhall - Walldorf I - Tin Rocco , Floriscount. (See further description below)
He was one of the most used breeding stallions in Germany last year, so we should see an abundant foal crop soon. Our frozen semen will arrive after the holidays, and is of excellent quality, proven fertility.

Hmmm.... an interesting trend?
Frozen semen sales have already begun for next season, and I am seeing a new shift in thinking. As many of you know, I started my breeding career 35 years ago with outstanding quality Trakehner horses. I admire the blood, and when used WISELY, Trakehner blood can add type, legginess, forward thinking and hardiness. They are the only true warmblood that is a "breed" and subsequently they are genetically consolidated, so using Tk blood can oft times have a better chance of impacting the produce.
That said..... 3 of my long time clients that I consider significant breeders (2 Hanoverian and one German Oldenburg) have chosen the Trakehners that I offer , GRAFENSTOLZ and CONNERY, to add to their mare base this coming season. Both stallions are certainly outstanding and I am delighted that these breeders have taken notice.
I think it is shaping up to be an exciting season with breeders thinking "out of the box"!!

Alexandro P - an exciting alternative for Dutch breeders!
Along with our shipment of semen of AMPERE, FRENCH KISS and JAZZ will be a new face - the happy and big moving Gelders stallion ALEXANDRO P!
To quote our eloquent Dutch breeder friend, Scot Tolman:
"Here's a super star for you. Not only was he the highest scoring Gelderlander in the history of the KPWN as a three year old, but this guy, as a coming four year old, has the self carriage and balance of a much older horse. He has an absolutely beautiful front--he lifts into the air as he moves. He may be Gelders in pedigree and type, but he's all dressage horse as far as I'm concerned."
Here is video of his first foal crop's evaluations. They were very well received by the jury and Alexandro P promises to be a most interesting and exciting producer!
http://vimeo.com/6533228
The semen has already proven fertility and will be reasonably priced at $750 per dose.

QUINCARA .... SOLD
Do any of you remember QUINCARA when she was born? She was a little premature (ET dam) so I held onto her to make sure she was going to be OK. Well, she is wonderful and a healthy sized 15.2 as a yearling.
She is by QUATERBACK out of my cornerstone mare, REINA H (Rubinstein). REINA H has recently made quite some positive statements through her progeny:
- her son, SIRRINGO by Sir Donnerhall was licensed for breeding by the Oldenburg Verband;
-her daughter, FINALE, by Furst Heinrich was S.E. Region Champion of the USDF Sporthorse Breeders Championships; then
-her daughter, DREAM RUBINA, by Dream of Glory produced the Grand Champion of Devon -the fancy Quaterback colt, QREDIT.
It is a special and wonderfully strong mare line, one to be cherished. Having kept 2 of her daughters for production, I now offer this young lady, coming 2 years. She stands 15.2 now, so should mature 16.1 or so. She is the kindest, smartest, sweetest youngster, with soft, supple movement with good swing and elasticity. She will be someone's very best friend and should be super comfortable under saddle.

A beautiful new photo of QUATERBACK
Before I publish this new photo of Quaterback in our upcoming ads for 2010, I thought I would share with you.
It shows a much matured young stallion, strong and proud.
I have had 8 Q'back foals now, and I remain convinced in his top siring capabilities. Soon, we will start our coming 3 year old Q'back filly under saddle, so I will have first hand insight as to their ride-ability.

Finally! A wonderful "refining" stallion
I am always on the lookout for something special, and now, we have arranged freezing of a young stallion that I loved from the first moment I saw him at his stallion licensing. He was smaller than the major sized "Status Quo" that year, but oh, what swing does ROSANDRO have throughout his whole body. I love horses that have that suppleness, and he did such a super job in the Bundeschampionats this year. He was RESERVE CHAMPION of the 4 year old stallions.
In his 30-day test at Schlieckau, he received for his trot (9.25) and for rideability (9.0). He also had high scores for his walk (8.88) and character and temperament (8.75). Jumping was awarded a score of 7.00 and with a weighted total score of 8.21 he ranked third in the group of 32 competitors at the test.
Just like Fackeltanz , Rosandro is available for breeding, although only for a limited number of breeders.
ROSANDRO is by ROSARIO out of Sanzia by SANDRO HIT.
video:http://victoria.achleiten.at/cms/upload/video/Rosandro-Internet.htm
I see him as a super compliment to heavier mares, old fashioned mares or mares that you want to downsize for your OWN size! Price will be reasonable and it's an excellent blood combination.

HELENA
This is the mare that started my entire breeding program. I bought her as a 2 year old from Germany in 1977. She was royally bred: Herbststurm - Pregel - Boris.
Over the 26 years that she was with me every day, she had 15 foals; 2 licensed breeding sons (Hadrian and Harper) and multiple winning offspring in dressage, eventing and hunters. She,herself, won top honors at breed shows and in dressage up to 2nd level before I just left her to her job of producing incredible foals. In 1996 I bred her to Rubinstein and produced REINA H (the H is in honor of Helena, since Reina was a larger clone of her dam)

No, it's NOT "QREDIT" !
At the moment, many are talking only about Quaterback when giving kudos to "Qredit" .... and I beg to differ! Qredit is a wonderful example of his strong damline.
Here is his 2009 half brother, the WYNTON colt, W. Ellington. Wynton and Quaterback could not be more different, but you can see the strong resemblance and consistency in type and movement that have come from their great producing dam, Dream Rubina (Dream of Glory - Rubinstein - Herbststurm).
I think I should write the history of this mare line to cement the importance of mares in our breeding programs.

Well! It's been quite a week!
News comes from DEVON horse show that our 2008 colt, "QREDIT" (Quaterback - Dream Rubina) has done a bang up job in besting all the other 23 colts presented! He won the yearling colt class then went on to win the Colt AND Young Horse Championships!
Owner, Michelle Coursin, says that they scratched his class last night to allow him to rest for this evening's Grand Championship class. We're pulling for the little guy, who, I understand, has taken it all in his stride!
Well, we owe that to his wonderful dam, Dream Rubina by Dream of Glory ....and HER wonderful Dam Reina H by Rubinstein.... and Reina's wonderful dam - my foundation mare and all time greatest mare of my life, Helena (Trakehner by Herbststurm - Pregel - Boris)They all show the same type and temperament of Helena. It is so beautiful to see the same eyes 3 generations later.
You might remember that Qredit was the first Quaterback foal born in the USA.

FINALE, me and Bill Solyntjes
This past weekend was a big one for this 3 year old daughter of Reina H and Furst Heinrich.
In her first trip off the farm, I asked her to qualify and then compete in the SE Regional finals for the USDF Sporthorse breeding Championships.
She qualified on Sat., with Judge Bill Solyntjes scoring her with an 89.4 ... rather grand! Then she won the Oldenburg Horse Breeders/German Oldenburg Verband class and High Point for the show.
By Sunday afternoon, she had secured her Southeast Regional Championship title!
"Grand Champion Filly and the Great American USDFBC SE Series Finals Champion Filly"
I wish her dam Reina could know what a special mare she is to us..... first a son licensed for breeding last week and then this daughter winning soundly her first time out.
I can't say it enough to breeders: YOUR MARES ARE THE FOUNDATION OF A SUCCESSFUL BREEDING PROGRAM!!
SO NOT settle for less than the highest quality in your brood stock. CULL, CULL, then CULL again. This young mare goes back to my foundation Trakehner mare, HELENA, who was a jewel and I knew it the moment I first saw her (and paid quite a bit of money for her back in 1977 - but it has been repayed a thousand fold since.))

FINALE hits big in her first outing!

SIRRINGO LICENSED BY GOV TODAY !!!
Well, it's official! SIRRINGO made a lasting impression on spectators as well as the German judges at the stallion licensing out in Solvang. His type, movement and jumping were breathtaking. I bred SIRRINGO and sold him to his current owners as a weanling, so convinced was I that he had stallion potential. I was under pressure , as they already had purchased and succeeded in having licensed another of my offspring, the black stallion RASTA (Rotspon - Rouletto)
SIRRINGO is the first SIR DONNERHALL to be born in the U.S. (he is now 4 years old) and his dam is my cornerstone mare REINA H by Rubinstein. This mare stems from my foundation mare, HELENA , a glorious Trakehner mare of noble blood. (See the "Our Horses" page)
REINA H has had two daughters awarded Premium status as well... and now her first licensed son. There might be another yet to some.
I congratulate the Californian contingency that worked so hard to get both Rasta and Sirringo to stallion licensing; Pamela Bailey, Helen Rodriguez,Owners, and Christine Rivlin-Henke & Stacey Zwergel, Trainers .
Beautiful stallion, beautiful pedigree - we will have to see what foals he can produce - should be stunning. Frozen semen will be coming.

CHEROKEE SPIRIT'S SHINING GLORY
Yeah, well I know it's a long name, but it has a story with it. This is the last foal (forever) of my very best, and first,KIGER mare from the Riddle Herd Management Area (HMA) out in Oregon. And this is the only filly that Spirit has had here. (I still ride her best son, who is now 9 years old!)
Anyway, it has been a long time since I have shown you any of my Kigers - and I still love them. I kept 3 good daughters of my stallion CHEROKEE WARRIOR; a golden dun (this yearling filly, GLORY); a claybank and a grulla.

CHEROKEE SHIMMER
And this coat color is called "claybank" by Kiger breeders. It is a buttermilk color with dun factor - like Dale Evans used to ride! This sweet filly is also by WARRIOR out of Cherokee Diamond Mirage.

DONATA ...bred mare FOR SALE
I have been remiss in posting photos of "DONATA". She is DONNERHALL - RUBINSTEIN - GRENADIER - AKZENT II. At 12 years of age, after many Premium rated foals in Germany, she might not have the svelte figure of her youth, but we pulled her straight from the pasture for these photos. She keeps herself fat , shiny and pregnant!
This is a jewel of a mare with solid, deep pedigree. She is due to foal in May to Furst Romancier.

pasture fat, but light on her feet!
She is due to foal in May to FURST ROMANCIER - fetal sexing says "FILLY"!

And ANOTHER exciting addition to our roster!
This is GRAFENSTOLZ! He is full Trakehner by blood. I first saw him as a young horse in Vechta some years ago, and was taken with his pedigree, beauty and versatility. There is so much to say about him:
His sire Polarion is highly succesful both in breeding and the sport. As a seven year old, he had already won advanced (S) level DRESSAGE competitions and became the 2000 National Trakehner Champion at the show in Cologne. Meanwhile he is successful with Markus Gribbe in World Cup Freestyles.
The dam St.Pr.St Gipsy Lady, is by the Danish Champion stallion Camelot. Camelot is a son of the successful Grand Prix stallion Arsenal. Gipsy Lady is a full sister of the State Stud Moritzburg sire, GIPSY KING. The granddam, St.Pr.St. Grazie II, has won many prizes in breeding and sport. She was champion mare at several broodmare shows and participated in the Bundeschampionat twice. The great grandsire AROGNO is regarded as one of the trademark sires of post war Trakehner breeding. GRAFENSTOLZ comes from the Trakehner family of GUNDULA 509 (by Hypnos-Columbus-Czardas; Poll-Hoerem). This line also produced the stallions Ginster, Grandioso, Gundo, Gunnar, Guter Planet, the licensing winner Guter Stern and Guy Laroche.
Grafenstolz was awarded a premium at the 2000 Trakehner licensing in Neumünster as a two year old. He proved his versatile talents right from the very beginning on the sport, as a five year old winning several 1.25m level tests for showjumpers as well as medium dressage. As a six year old he made German breeding history by becoming the first horse ever to qualify for the finals of the Jumping, dressage, and Eventing in the same year. He went on to win the eventing with an average score of 9.7 out of ten. This was followed later in the same year by him winning the World Championship for young event horses in Le Lion d'Angers, France.
In 2005 as a seven year old he won his first advanced level event competition. In 2006, as an 8 year old he won the bronze medal at the German Championships in Schenefeld, then placed in two international three star competitions and won three international two star competitions. In November 2006 he received Trakehner Horse of the Year award given by the Trakehner Verband. In 2007 and 2008 he won at Compiegne. In 2007 he competed in a puissance class and cleared 2 metres or just under seven feet.
08/26/2009
|
|
Multi-talented GRAFENSTOLZ
Now, this handsome horse has moved into the dressage competition world with ease. He is a wonderful example of what Trakehners are SUPPOSED to be - typey, athletic, versatile. I think he should be an excellent improvement sire, finding success in both hunter/jumper breeding programs as well as dressage.
With an average score of 8.2 for his first crop, he ranked number one of all stallions in Baden-Württemberg. The Baden-Württemberg Verband awarded him a premium as a young stallion. His oldest offspring are now seven, he has already had a German Vice Champion, and this year Vincent and Gin Tonic will go to the World Championships at Le Lion d’Angers.
Grafenstolz is a beautiful stallion and should add movement, rideability and scope.
Personally, I plan to use him to blend his excellent Trakehner blood back into my mare band for his superior temperament, rideability and talent.

VERY interesting "new" jumper stallion - KANNAN!!
Wow! Here is a super well bred stallion with winning ways and winning offspring!
KWPN; Voltaire - Nimmerdor - Le Mexico
Carrying blood from all the important jumping breeds of Europe: Voltaire, Furioso, Nimmerdor, Gotthard, Farn, Le Mexico, all great progenitors of modern jumper breeding.
Kannan's competition successes have included:
-winning the Belgian Classic Circuit at the age of 6 in 1998
- 7 year old Belgian Champion in 1999
-In 2000 he made his International debut by finishing 5th in a Grand Prix.
-In 2003 Kannan won the Deauville Grand Prix
-In 2004 Kannan won at Paris Bercy and Jardy as well as many other competition successes.
He was a regular member of the French team which won the Samsung Super League in 2003 & 2004.
-In 2005 he became French National Champion.
His most well known son is "A Pikachu de Muze", who won the six year old WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS at Lanaken in 2006. In 2006 he also produced the American 6YO Champion "Amis de Kannan".
He also has 11 offspring jumping at international level (2* and above).
We look for him to provide scope, size and power, suitable for jumper courses or hunter ring, as his technique and movement are excellent as hunter type.
Semen shows very good morphology, is definitely proven and will be available early. Priced at $1100 per dose, this is a GREAT introductory price for this season only. It's a good deal for such an accomplished individual who is also siring so very well.

FLORISCOUNT - One of the "NEW" boys for 2010!
I am happy to introduce a sparkling new young stallion that will be available for the first time to U.S. breeders in 2010. Freezing has begun on FLORISCOUNT.
He is by FLORENCIO out of a DONNERHALL - WALLDORF - TIN ROCCO dam.
He has already received high praise for his basic gaits and rideability. In his HLP in Schlieckau he earned a total of 128.80 points and was placed 2nd out of 39 participants; scoring 10 from the testriders; 10 for his gallop, and 9 for trot, 8.38 for walk! He was first placed in the dressage portion of the test.
So, I see him as an excellent type to use for our market here, where we want to produce "rider friendly" horses in a nice type.
More on him later.....

FLORETIENNE
By FLORESTAN out of TAMARINDE .
I have told you all season that this is one glorious colt. He is beautiful with his chiseled features, elegant with his fabulous natural self-carriage. He has expression, freedom and super swing and elasticity in his movements. His walk is the best, trot superlative and canter rhythmical and balanced. He is only 3 months old, but stood his ground with the big boys! He and his brother, QUINTESSENTIAL earned the ribbons for "Foal of distinction" from the GOV at our recent inspection.
By the way, this was our 27th (!!!) annual inspection with the German Oldenburg Verband.
Etienne will find his home in Tn., alongside his 1/2 brother , "Quint".

W. ELLINGTON
By WYNTON out of DREAM RUBINA by Rubinstein. Well, what's to say about this handsome, strong and elegant colt? He is long lined and very athletic with excellent hip line and active hind leg. He, too, was a premium awarded colt. He has been sold to Mr. Andrew Buckley of Australia. We will keep him here for some months to come before his arduous journey. He goes to a serious dressage trainer/competitor, and I hope he will make us proud in his new country.

Quintessential
By Quaterback out of my TAMARINDE (awesome mare)
Quint was spoken for before he was born, and Owner Leslie Waterman had a big grin on her face all day long at the GOV inspection. She had NEVER seen him in person before that day. He was spoken of very highly by the judges and comported himself as quite the gentleman (which is not his usual rambunctious self!)I am proud of him and of his special dam, Tam.

A most successful GOV inspection is history!
Yesterday was filled with good energy and sunshine. The heavy rains that have plagued us for 2 weeks didn't dare show themselves, and we worked from 8 am to 5 pm, with 3 inspectors evaluating mares and foals. I will go into detail when I return from my getaway, but, personally, the highlights were:
-My young 3 year old homebred mare, FINALE (Furst Heinrich out of my Reina H by Rubinstein)kind of blew everyone away with her extraordinary impulsion and elasticity at the trot! Here she is shown receiving a new award from the GOV... "Oldenburg Mare of Distinction".
She is a very attractive mare, and scored a total of 8.1, receiving 8s for her conformation, breed and sex type, walk; 9 for her trot, 8.5 for general impression. She is of really high quality, and so easy to deal with. We were encouraged to take her to her Mare Performance Test, to earn her States Premium Status. That should be a goal after she foals.
Secondly, in the background of this photo you will see our wonderful KWPN mare, TAMARINDE and her "personal" colt, FLORETIENNE, by Florestan. As I have told you, this is an awesome colt, with the most rhythmical, powerful and uphill movement, but so soft that you never see him touch the ground. He was the youngest of my foals to show, but both he AND his brother, QUINTESSINTIAL (by Quaterback by ET) earned one of the new awards from GOV - "Foal of distinction". The intention of this award is to present one foal Champion of each inspection site, but these two TAMARINDE boys were of such high Premum quality that it was impossible to choose just one. I am proud of them, and super proud of the amazing quality of Tamarinde as a producer. Remember her wonderful moving colt "Hot Jazz"? So, she really stamps the movement on them.
I also was proud of all my other foals who were Premium awarded: FIDELIA (Florestan out of VPS Ate); W. ELLINGTON (Wynton out of Dream Rubina); BELIEVE IN DREAMS (Dream of Glory out of Bella Argentina - who also earned a high score and Premium status; QUITO (Quaterback out of Belrose)
Anyway, I am off for some days and will be back in the office the 20th. By then I will have "COOKIE" photos and will give a more complete report on who was here, etc.

Oh, goodness me - look at THIS gorgeous youngster!
Can you even believe that this is little "SIRRINGO" ??? (now 17.2 hands!) He is by Sir Donnerhall out of my good mare, REINA H (Rubinstein). He is now four years old, and working alongside his stablemate, RASTA !
The partnership that owns both of these magnificent boys are so diligent in their management and preparation of these young stallions.
SIRRINGO will be presented for stallion approval this year.
"We are not showing Sirringo until after his licensing, but he is going gorgeously. We are taking him to the shows to school. "

GRACIELLA by GRANULIT out of REINA H
FINALLY! An owner of one of my produce sends me a competition photo! I am so thankful to Sue Starling for taking the time, effort and thought to update me on the progress of this beautiful young mare. This was the first foal of my good mare, Reina H. Sue bought Graciella as a foal and has done all the work with her along the way. She says:
That was the 3'3" Modified Amateurs. This year I started in the speed bump division, the first week, and by week 6, I did the 3'6". We were very comfortable in the 3'3" (2 weeks of that), then moved to the 3'6" where I got a little nervous and made some mistakes. We were Champion 2 weeks at HITS, once in the Adult Amateur (3'), then in the Modified one week. She needed more jump than 3'. That picture is not the norm, as I had boo-booed earlier in the course, had a rail, and she was soaring. As my trainers say, "she is careful.". She is jumping the standards in that pic. She has been a fun project. She is so smart, She wants to please and I have just had too much fun riding her to breed her, and I know I should. Oh, and then we did one of the RMI shows in May, 3'3", and were Champion.
Thank you Sue! Anyone else out there want to send me photos of my "babies" ???

First photo of an AMPERE foal!
Finally, we are happy to see an AMPERE foal. I have been hearing such rave reviews about the overall quality and type of the first foals of young sire, AMPERE> He bred only a small number of mares last year, but reports have been that he is very consistent in throwing himself in his foals. Sure looks like it here.
This filly is out of a Samber mare.

ELLINGTON is by WYNTON out of DREAM RUBINA (Dream of Glory - Rubinstein). He has a glorious pedigree to go along with his special looks, conformation, type, and movement.

"This is Red Hawk's "Don Sargasso" (named after the only sea on earth with no boundaries) Colt by Don Shufro out of our Sir Oldenberg Mare. Photo was taken at 10 days of age. Very uphill, athletic...super character (none of the mare's flightiness)."

My next broodmare offering...UPDATE: Atee is SOLD
This is a wonderfully kind Verband Premium Westfalen mare, ATEE, (Abanos - World Magic). You can read more about her on the "Our Horses" page.
She is offered for sale in foal for March 2010 to SAN AMOUR - it is a cross that I am most excited about out of this year's breedings.
Atee has a special, charming and correct filly by Florestan this year, and has proven her capability as a top class producer and great Mom.
Atee is still young (6) that if you want to put her back to work you can. She has awards and placings in dressage (young horse tests) and did a very good mare performance test. She is sound, healthy and nice to be around.
I am proud to offer such a nice mare , bred to an exciting stallion.
Thank you, Michelle.... ATEE will move to Washington State after her filly is weaned.

WYNTON at the World Cup!
WYNTON impressed the judges and wowed the crowds at the World Cup in Las Vegas recently.
As I had told you earlier, he was chosen to represent the KWPN as the "winningest" dressage horse in Netherlands. In his exhibition ride, he scored an 8.68!
Friend and fellow Floridian, Ilse Schwarts, took this photo of Wynton and Edward Gal and sent me her glowing reports on Wynton. She has other photos on her magazine's website:
http://www.dressage-news.com/
We are pleased with the foals this season, and proud that Wynton is such a phenomenal competition horse. Another friend and fellow breeder, Lloyd Landkamer, was the FEI Chief Steward for the World Cup competition and had opportunity to watch Wynton in action and talk to Ed Gal about him. Gal reported that Wynton has such excellent work ethics.

ISSANDRA by Fidertanz - Figaro - Inschallah - Zeus
ISSANDRA is the next mare IN FOAL that I offer for sale. She is IN FOAL to SIR DONNERHALL for early 2010.
Issandra is an imported filly from Germany, with solid pedigree. She has been slow maturing, and will not turn actually 3 until late June.
It is time to start her under saddle and enjoy her nice personality. She has the makings of a dependable broodmare, as she conceived on one dose of semen, first breeding! (Gotta love mares like that )
Here is a little footage of her.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQm9SDTgnaM
If you are interested in a reasonably priced, imported, well bred AND pregnant young mare, please give me a call so I can tell you more about her.

The LAST Dream of Glory ??? here - 4 hours old
You may remember that I used my last dose of the long deceased, but very special stallion, DREAM OF GLORY (Donnerhall - Pik Bube - Roumadour II). We had 3 straws left, and one blew in the water bath, leaving us a short dose. Well, maiden mare BELLA ARGENTINA conceived, and I dreamed about one last filly from Dream of Glory. My best young producer is my homebred mare, DREAM RUBINA, by Dream of Glory out of Reina H (Rubinstein)
It seemed that it would not be the filly I dreamed of. "It" was called "colt" on fetal sexing (which we have just been "practicing"). All year long I was sad each time I thought about the colt that was coming, and that I would have to sell. But, I kept praying! (Seeing as I am STILL a dreamer and believer!)
Wonder of wonders, IT'S A GIRL !!!!!
And her name is BELIEVE IN DREAMS !!
Please welcome this bright eyed girl!
"I believe in miracles" !!!........(singing the song! ;-)

WYNTON does it again !!
I have been dying to tell all of you of WYNTON's latest big win! Each year in Holland, the big KWPN stallion competitions start in December. This year, Wynton could not start the season, since his regular rider, Madeleine Witte-Vrees has stepped out of the saddle on pregnancy leave! Edward Gal won his first competition outing with Wynton, and came to the last stallion competition on Feb. 8th to do it again! He was the overall winner of the 6 year old stallion competition with a total of 91 points.
This is a photo of Ed Gal riding Wynton at that competition.
On Friday, Feb 13th, Wynton made a beautiful showing at the stallion presentation in Vechta of the stallions represented by Ahlers breeding station in Germany.
We eagerly anticipate our first U.S. bred Wynton foals soon.
Breeders, please be sure to send me your photos!

More exciting news on AMPERE!
Well, its official ... the frozen semen of AMPERE is ready for us and will be coming over in a couple of weeks. After congenial negotiation with the Reesink brothers, we are able to bring in a larger supply than first allotted. As well, Yancey Farms has been given exclusivity in North America.
This young stallion has just hit Europe by storm, and breeders are lining up. He will be presented to the Hanoverian stallion licensing jury by the end of the month. They will no doubt see his outstanding qualities, so those mare owners here can be excited, too, that they can use this awesome youngster in their programs.
Although the stud fee and frozen semen prices are high, I think it will be a good value at $950 per dose. The PPTM is reported at 60% on most all of the freezes.
AMPERE is licensed KWPN, German Oldenburg, Westfalian, Rheinland.

FYI
I am "bumping up" this topic as we draw near to new season:
Let me make something clear about my "frozen" business...
I am often asked if I can bring in particular stallion's frozen semen from Germany, Holland, etc. The answer is "Sure I can", but that is not the nature of my business.
I do not offer hundreds of stallions....I only REPRESENT those stallions that I admire, am personally familiar with and wish to use in my own program. Many of you have taken advantage of my years of knowledge and success to help you choose a stallion for your mare. That knowledge can only come from hands on experience, which I do not have with all the hundreds of stallions who are available through frozen semen in Europe. I have always given, and will continue to offer personalized service, and you can be sure of getting my voice on the phone when you call.
The difference between the way I do business and any other frozen semen import service in this country, is that Yancey Farms is the ONLY frozen semen importation service in the U.S. that keeps inventory all year round. We maintain substantial inventory and can usually ship from one day to the next. I personally visit the stallions in my program, and adjust the roster from year to year, as I evaluate the offspring of the stallions. Some stallions are deleted from the list if I am not pleased with what I see.
I have certain "HOT PICKS" for the year....this year's "HOT PICKS" are QUATERBACK, AMPERE and WYNTON. Proven sires, such as DON SCHUFRO, DIAMOND HIT,SIR DONNERHALL and SANDRO HIT remain high on the list. The young stallions FAREWELL III and FIDERTANZ continue to impress me with the quality of their offspring. Having CHEQUILLE Z again is super. STATUS QUO is an awesome young stallion that is reasonably priced.
I keep a few jumper sires, and can order anything you want from Schockemoehle's, Klatte's , Sosath's, Seifert's .....
I have been importing and shipping frozen equine semen since 1988. I have hundreds of satisfied customers, who experienced high conception rates in their mares, and have the foals to prove it. Feel free to call me during normal business hours with any questions you may have. You might want to check the FAQs page too.
Thanks!
Judy

I promised you something exciting!!
How much more exciting than the fabulous young KWPN stallion , AMPERE !! (Rousseau - Flemmingh - Amor - Farn)
Champion of the stallion show in Den Bosch and the convincing champion of the spring performance test in Ermelo 2008. By the guest riders described as the best stallion of the last couple of years. His grades at the performance test speak for themselves, walk, 8, trot 9, canter 9,5, suppleness 9, selfcarriage and balance 8,5, ridability and character 9, suitability as a dressage horse 9, total score 88.5. The stallion attracts attention with his fantastic canter, suppleness and super character.
He has just completed his 70 days' test, with scores that are equivalent to about an index of 150 in Germany! He has a great mind and incredible movement.
Just check out his inspection video on You Tube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZpC1VNvMgI
I have requested that he be inspected and licensed by the German Oldenburg Verband for us. I think he will be a lovely cross with some of our strong mares.
I am still working on a few others.. stay tuned!

Changes to website complete... and an exciting new product!
The list of stallions , new fee schedule, new contract are online now...
and EXCITING new information on a brand new DISPOSABLE vapor shipper that I am introducing to the U.S. !! Please take time to read the information on the new CRYODRUM, how it will fit into our program and the changes it will mean to your costs. I figure each buyer will save a minimum of $150 per shipment.... for the simple reason that the CRYODRUM only weighs 9 pounds fully loaded, plus you don't have to ship it back!!

Chequille Z available again!
For those of you who were disappointed that there was no CHEQUILLE Z available last year, I bring the news that we are good to go now.
The semen is in my tanks; price is $700 per dose. Semen always had good fertility.
From Brookhouse Stud also comes DIAMOND HIT, whose price has gone up as his success has gone up. Price this year is $1500 per dose. At this price I will not carry large inventory, so if you have interest in him maybe you should go ahead and purchase what you need.
The new price schedule and stallions are up on the website. Please check the FEES & FORMS page.

Look what I've been doing!
This is "Warrior" , my 7 year old Kiger stallion. With the help of friend and trainer, Fred Tuller, we have taught "Doodle Bug" to drive! He is such an awesome little horse - game to try anything without argument. Well, he DID have his opinion at first about the shafts touching his sides (!), but now you should see him cross over with his legs to turn when you say "Gee"!

Rubin Royal .......
RUBIN ROYAL has certainly proven his excellent siring ability. I am SO tired of hearing those , once again - unsubstantiated RUMORS that Rubin Royal semen doesn't work. I am the only person who has imported Rubin Royal semen to the U.S., so I am a better source to tell you that we have had NO problems with Rubin Royal semen over the years. These rumors started by one mare owner the very first season we had Rubin Royal semen here. That year we bred 9 mares and 7 were in foal. One mare owner whose mare did not get in foal wanted to blame the semen, and put it on the internet .. people took the gossip and just continued it. Such a shame and such a dis-service to a very good stallion. You should NOT back off from using this good stallion if he fits your mare. He is a classy stallion. Semen is in stock for next season already.
If you want to refresh your memory of him, here is his homepage:

HALIMA by DON SCHUFRO
I have never shown you photos of HALIMA, by DON SCHUFRO out of HEART'S AFIRE. The mare had a tough last Trimester and wasn't so great after foaling. SO, we were more concentrated on taking care of them than taking photos. Allis fine now though! HALIMA is a typical Don Schufro foal - powerful, great legged and a big mover. She will be one for the serious minded dressage rider.

He has developed into such a grand colt. What do you think?

BEL AURORA , always the center of attention!
Here is our BABY BEL ... as always she strutted her stuff and let all know that she is special! Having been born last Nov. 17th, she is much older than the rest. Still, she made her legendary sire ARGENTINUS proud by earning her premium award. She is out of BELROSE (Rubinstein - Inshallah)

QUETZAL by Quaterback out of Reina H
So, this is the twin brother to QUINCARA! He is a well put together package of beauty and movement. The photo says it all - he has a powerful hindquater with extreme uphill movement and great freedom through his shoulders. With his charming face and brilliant energy, he earned his premium award for the day.
We were schooled by Holly Simensen on what "Quetzal" is - a beautiful and rare bird from ???? (Oops, I didn't listen very well!)
Quetzal is proudly owned (and named!) by Karen Reilly.
Oh, I should make it clear that this is his ET Mommy! His biological dam is my most excellent producer REINA H (Rubinstein - Herbststurm).

Our precious QUINCARA : Quaterback x Reina H
Our baby girl was the opener for the 2008 German Oldenburg inspection on June 18th. She may be delicate still, after an early start at 310 days (!), but her movement is breathtaking. Her quality, correctness and elegant movement earned her premium award.
As Miss Cookie gets our photos to me, I will put them up of the other foals as well.

QUINELISE : Quaterback x Preference
Here is the "ballerina" of the day. This is the filly Quinelise by Quaterback out of our Preference by Jonggor's Weyden. The judges were smitten by her - it is hard NOT to be. She is so beautifully chiseled, full of suspension, balance, freedom of movement. And she has the most incredible dappling gene starting to express itself. She earned her premium award from the judges and their comment of "favorite foal of the day".

And here is Quincara's FULL brother!
From the same embryo flush of REINA H last year, came this strapping colt! Amazing, no? Here is a handsome, strong, manly colt at THREE days! Out of a humble little TB mare, who Vets thought was having a "small" foal! She did a trooper's job, and he arrived fat and healthy with exceptional legs and bones just like his sire. I continue to be so positively impressed with the stamping ability of Quaterback. Same head, same neck set high at the poll, same tremendouse shoulders, same hindquaters same way the front legs come out of the shoulders.... just incredible.
We will put photos up when he finishes unfolding! He still has a ways to go, having had all these legs scrunched up in a small framed mare. Cudos to Peterson-Smith Equine Repro for providing us with these two Quaterback foals safely and happily on the ground. We shipped the embryos down there is the pocket of Jack, our local courier service man! This year they gave us a super buckskin QH mare that is carrying the Quaterback embryo out of our Tamarinde. Should be fun!

Don't believe all you hear - more on the Carol Austin story
It was brought to my attention by Schockemoehle that there seems to be someone trying to undermine my reputation by insinuating that I am shorting breeders on the amount of straws per dose. This has never happened, and it will never happen. If I am sent 3 straws per dose , that's what I send out. If I am sent 8 straws per dose, that's what I send out. If I am sent one straw per dose (as was the case for many years with horses from Blue Hors), that's what I sent out. But, I have never deducted one single straw from anyone's shipment. We will get to the bottom of this, and find out who is doing this. I have based my horse business for 33 years on complete honesty, and with the best interests of the mare owners always in mind. I do not know what this situation is,and can only guess the motives of who ever is behind it, but we will find out. I keep an accurate log of exactly who I sell the semen to, how many doses, how many straws and the collection dates that I send. I know to whom we ship ..... and wonder if it might be the Vet that is shorting the mare owners, if indeed ANY one has actually been shorted - for it certainly has not been me. I will not accept this affront to my reputation and I want to assure all my customers that this will be dealt with. Paul Schockemoehle stands behind me 100 % and has no doubt of my integrity.
Thanks for your time,
Judy
*** UPDATE on the "Let's smear Judy's reputation"
situation. I have gotten to the bottom of who has been spreading the false accusations, and I am so disheartened to say that it is Carol Austin, who runs Superior Equine Sires. I was sent proof in an email that she had sent to a stallion station. A direct quote from her email:
"She buys full doses from suppliers, and often provides only ONE straw as a breeding dose to her clients. So, then she is able to have cheap prices because she is selling only 1/3 of a dose. I consider this a dishonest practice.
Yours, Carol"
Where is the WORLD did she come up with this? In her imagination I guess.
This is a blatant lie and is a libelous statement.... I have written her and asked her to provide me with ONE person who can prove such an outrageous claim. I have told her that , if she can provide me with proof that I have done this, I will publicly apologoze. If she cannot, then SHE is to publicly apologize to me and to ALL of you, and to the stallion owners to whom she has spread her lies.
I have had enough of this nonsense, and am putting this right out here to stop the ridiculous and malicious rumors that she is spreading. I am not the only broker that she tries to bully and attack. This is going to stop now!
I don't spend my time trying to run down others, I just try to do a better JOB than the others and I pay attention to my own life, not anyone else's. And, my prices are not "cheap" - they are fair. I work for the benefit of the mare owners in the U.S.
I apologize to all of you now, and beg your indulgence in this posting. I just believe this is the only way to deal with such matters - out in the open, for I have nothing to hide, and am not making accusations, only quoting what she has already written.
I hope that it will not be necessary to pursue this through legal channels, but I understand from our family lawyer that it is now an option, since she has used the internet to pass along her concocted lies.
I thank all of you for the support that I have received over the past days... it means the world to me to know that I have earned your respect and trust.
Peace out,
Judy !

Her great sire, ARGENTINUS, is gone......
I feel genuinely sad, hearing the news last night that Argentinus is gone. I guess I thought that a legend as grand as he is would never die. He lives on in BEL AURORA, our filly that was born a month ago.....and my magnificent colt Arrick Harper, as well as Bella Argentina and Olivia. I cherish every drop of Argentinus blood that we have on this farm.
**** UPDATE ON PRICE****
We received word today from Klatte's that the price of the Argentinus semen has drastically changed - to be expected. It will now sell by the dose, and converts to $3500 PER dose.
It's a giant impact.

New shipment in ....look at our old friend, RUIZ SOLER!
We safely received our early shipment of QUATERBACK, FIDERTANZ, DE NIRO, CONTENDRO, SIR DONNERHALL, FAREWELL III, BALOU DU ROUET, SAN AMOUR and our old friend, RUIZ SOLER!
There are quite a few breders still in the U.S. that LOVE Ruiz Soler, for the high quality hunter offspring that he produces. Heinrich Klatte still had doses of frozen left and we offer them at $450 a dose. This is a super bargain, as the semen of Ruiz Soler was always awesome.
Hunter breeders pay attention!

My two fillies from him are just wonderful, and absolutely stamped by their sire. Photos soon, I promise! "Cookie" has been A.W.O.L.!

He is charming, athletic and multi-talented. He has won the Bundeschampionats in both dressage and versatility, where his jumping skills shined.
He is a consistent producer of typey, high quality foals, and should be an excellent addition to our pony stock over here.
Frozen semen will be available Feb. 2008. Price $450 per dose.

Particular information about WYNTON
I guess you can tell that I am particularly keen on this young stallion. Well, just read his stats, and you will begin to get the picture of just what a special stallion he is:
Here is the report of the jury for the 70 DAYS TEST: "
Wynton is a good developed, uphill modeled stallion, with very good capacity as a riding horse. The motherline consists out of pure German top-dressage stallions. Father Jazz (keur) is extremely succesful in Holland with 8 licensed sons, 187 star-mares, 77 keur-mares, 50 elite-mares and 1 preferent-mare, which is an extremely high score. This stallion has a very good attitude and is very easy to ride. Wynton has a very good technique in his legs, a good posture and a very good balance.
The notes are: walk 8.5; trot 9; canter 9; suppleness 8; posture and balance 8.5; ridability 8.5; capacity as a dressage-horse 9. He was the CHAMPION in the 70days test this spring.
Wynton was the vice-champion in the prestigious PAVO-Cup for 4 year old horses which can be compared with the Bundeschampionat in Germany.
Here is some old footage that's online:

Such an honor....
We were treated to a private showing of Quaterback under saddle with Christian Flamm riding! It was breathtaking, watching this talented , supple, powerful youngster with his super rider. They had him all braided and waiting for our arrival, and I stood in the middle of the arena and saw every step he took. And, boy, were they magnificent steps! He is still nothing short of spectacular, and I have never seen a stallion that had such energy flowing in perfect circle through his body. He just picks himself off the ground when he starts to move. He and the young WYNTON (see post below) and , without question, my two favorite picks for the upcoming breeding season.
I saw foals of Quaterback and see how he impacts them, so I believe he will become a stallion of quality and excellent reputation. I am proud that we have our own first foal crop coming from him this next season.
We will have our shipment of semen ready for import before Christmas, and I can take orders now, since we know the pricing schedule.

Well, here we are in Holland!
That is a photo of me with Tamarinde's little brother "WYNTON"! As I reported before my trip, I would visit the breeders of Tam and meet Wynton. It turned out to be the highlight of my trip! This photo was taken by Grietje Jansen. She and her husband, Hans are the breeders of Tam and Wynton, and have two more full siblings at home.
Wynton won his KWPN Stallion licensing, and was Reserve Ch. of the prestigious PAVO Cup, where Tam was 7th in her year. He is a top quality stallion that I am very proud and excited to introduce to the U.S., as well as Germany. He will be prsented for licensing to the German Oldenburg Verband by my request, so that breeders other than Dutch can take advantage of his special bloodlines and genetic qualities.
His pedigree is Jazz - Matador II - Rubinstein - Welt As. I met his (and Tam's) dam AND grand dam, both venerable older ladies.
We will have video of him available soon, and will have frozen semen for next season. His gaits are pure, and he has 3 VERY good gaits. With his quick, active hind leg, and great freedom and swing through his whole body, he is a picture of elegance , suppleness and elasticity. I tell you, he put to shame a lot of horses that I saw at the Bundeschampionats. We need this extra Jazz blood, still blending the excellent attributes of Matador II, Rubinstein and Welt As.
Over the next week, I will add some more news from my trip. I traveled from Holland, through Germany to Brandenburg to visit Quaterback, then up to Denmark as planned. I have personal observations from the Bundeschampionats which helped me rethink my frozen semen program. More later....

Could he be any more handsome?
Of course, I think that Tamarinde is one of the most beautiful mares I have ever seen.....so I was pleasantly surprised when I found Wynton to be the same type of handsome creature.

|
|
Wynton after work
His conformation is much like Tamarinde's, but obviously in stallion form. He is very leggy and light in his movements, with the same rythym and regularity as Tam has. He has the same active, quick hind leg. He will broaden and fill out as he finishes maturing, but will no doubt remain a very tall, handsome stallion.

Hot Jazz at his GOV inspection
And here is Mr. Fancy pants! I was so very satisfied with the brilliant, confident movement of Hot Jazz (Hotine out of Tamarinde by Jazz - Matador II - Rubinstein - Welt as ). His supple, ground coverin stride also shows incredible suspension.
Too bad that Owners, Pat & Linda Parelli could not have been here to witness this colt's first major award...his Premium plaque from the German Oldenburg Verband.

Another sad good-bye...... Skyrocket
Just yesterday evening about 6:30, I was looking at Skyrocket, thinking how beautiful he was, and counting the months until I could start to ride him.........and this morning he was gone.
Apparently he was struck by lightening in another bad storm last night. I just can't believe it. In 32 years, I have never lost a horse to lightening. I read about others' losses, but to experience it here is surreal. All his pasture mates were still standing guard this morning when Antonio went to feed, and he immediately knew something was terribly wrong. Such a sad year for so many of us.
Hug your horse right now!

| This is about PAPERWORK !
Heads up...........I am getting a LOT of mare owners asking for breeding certificates from last year that I have already filled out and sent. I don't like to do things twice, so let me clue you in on how I send them. When I make the shipment of semen to your Vet, I put a manilla envelope in with a big print announcement on the outside that says:
"In this packet you will find:
-Thawing instructions for the frozen semen
-INSEMINATION CERTIFICATE to document the breeding for foal registration - RETAIN this document in your Client's file, complete upon insemination of the mare, and RETURN to your Client when they pick up the mare"
AND
A return Fed X airbill for the prompt return of my shipper. Please be respectful of others who are waiting for their shipment also by sending the shipper home right away."
I STAPLE the breeding certificate to the thawing protocol, which HOPEFULLY, your Vet will read!
So, maybe , if you know that the breeding certificate for your mare is with your Vet, you can remember to ask him to sign it and return it to you.
Owners of KWPN mares do not need a certificate from me, you can download from your registry's website; same for Swedish. I mainly send out GOV and AHS. I do not send out ISR paperwork.
Hope this helps you to be better informed on the papertrail!
Thanks

My Argentinus girls!
British photographer Bob Langrish was here for his annual Spring visit, and captured some beautiful moments on the back hill that holds the young stock. I'll bet that this photo ends up in one of his calendars.
In this photo you see three glorious fillies with Argentinus in common:
From left, the red bay is "Olivia" (Don Kennedy - Argentinus), 2 yrs. ; the chestnut is "Bella Argentina" (Argentinus - Rubinstein)also 2 yrs. ; and the third bay is "Raissa" (Florencio - Argentinus) 1 yr. You can just see the eye of "Bardot", yearling filly (Don Schufro - Rubinstein) I have more photos that I will share soon.
Remember, you can click on the photo and make it come up in another window larger.

Well, look what we have here!!!.........
This is a brand new HOTLINE colt! The first to be born in the USA. He is as beautiful and correct in his conformation as I could have dreamed. His dam is no slouch, though.....this is the foal of TAMARINDE, my JAZZ - MATADOR II - RUBINSTEIN - WELT AS mare who is in training with Jan Brons in Wellington. This colt (how about HOT JAZZ for a name??)was carried by Tamarinde's best friend, my lovely black Kiger mare. So, this solid black colt looks perfect beside her, and she loves him tremendously. We are so blessed.
HOT JAZZ has a super, big shoulder, gorgeous face and very long legs. Very exciting!

American Hanoverian Society Hi Score for Tamarinde !
Tam continued her winning ways by besting a field of 9 mares in the Non-Hanoverian Mare division at the recent AHS inspection here in Ocala. Her final score was 7.91 , with the high note of "9" for her Impulsion & Elasticity (also "9" for typiness,Femininity). I was told that it is perhaps the highest score in the country so far this year. We shall see.
Her barn mate, the KWPN mare "Preference" captured the exact same honors as Tam several years ago by being the SE Regional USDF DSBS Grand Champion, Highest scoring mare for the German Oldenburg Verband, then High score Non-Hanoverian for the AHS.
Tamarinde has an ET coming by the Hanoverian stallion "Hotline".

Tamarinde wins BIG at USDF Championships !!
It was a big weekend for Tam and me. These old bones were tired last night after two days of showing.
Sat. she won the Grand Championship of the Sunshine Sport Horse Breed Show to qualify for the SE Regional Championships Sunday. Her scores were high score for the show with an 84 and an 85 in the Dutch class !
On Sunday she was again Grand Champion of the USDFBC SE Regional Championship.
Her score of 86.25 was agin high score of the day, and the highest score I personally have ever known. She scored:
8.5 for conformation
9.0 for walk
8.5 for trot
8.5 for general impression
And, she LOVED being the show Queen!

DREAM RUBINA new Premium mare
I am most excited and proud of the Premium status awarded to RUBINA , our homebred DREAM OF GLORY out of REINA H by RUBINSTEIN. She scored an overall 7.8 with highest notes for her quality of conformation, impulsion & elasticity, walk, general impression & development (8s). She scored 8 on her neck with 7.5s and 7s for all other conformation points.
All this was achieved with a big, powerful filly at her side too! Her dam line is an exceptional one, and she is following suit by producing a super filly as her first offering.
UPDATE: Rubina is in foal to Quaterback for 2008 - ultrasound shows a filly.

DREAM RUBINA 3 years old!!
My DREAM RUBINA was born at an odd time of the year - a November day. SO, technically she is 3 years and 8 months. She was an early maturing filly, strong and powerful; kind and peaceful. Since birth, her destiny has been to follow in the huge broodmare footsteps of her grand dam, HELENA (Trakehner by HERBSTSTURM - PREGEL - BORIS). Helena was my foundation mare and her quality as a producer has never been and will never be rivaled on this farm. RUBINA is so unbelievably like HELENA and the type of foals that Helen produced. Genetics amaze me, and it proves the tremendous value of a REALLY top broodmare. I was so proud that the judges recognized the quality of this young mare and awarded her Premium Mare status.
Thank you, HELENA ! We miss you still...

This is why I love my KIGERS.....
This photo, taken by my friend Cookie, shows an incredible morning run with my Kiger stallion, WARRIOR and his band of mares. They are so awesome to watch, you have never witnessed such a peaceful, cohesive family of horses. It was a majical morning, where we once again hosted the well reknowned equine photographer, Bob Langrish from England. He had such success with the photos of of my Kigers that he took last year, that he had to come back for more!
Love my Kigers!

A blast from the past.......
This photo is of my first warmblood stallion, The Trakehner Beaute', who I purchased in 1975. He produced many wonderful offspring, noted for their fabulous characters, willingness to work and gentle natures, not to mention their all around athletic abilities. He had offspring successful in dressage to the highest levels, Combined training, hunters........ I received this note today and it made me smile. Thank you Bee Pape for being so thoughtful in writing about Miss Joy. She was one that I was sad to part with.
Judy, Do you remember Miss Joy we bought from you 20 plus years ago? She is now teaching the second generation to ride. Susie's daughter Julia, 12 years old, is the Oklahoma Dressage Society Reserve Champion Junior Rider recognized shows at Intro. Joy is a great mare and hopefully has many more years to teach beginners. Susie took her successfully up thru 3rd level before children and now Joy is on her second generation. A well bred horse is a joy forever. Take care, Bee Pape
